# Permissions

When you create a SmartFAQ category, it has check box options to allow any group on your system to view that category.(see Read Permissions in the category page).

Read Permissions is very similar to the permissions page. The main difference is as follows;

1- In the Category page groups are selected for the specific category, while in the Permissions page Categories are selected against groups. You will always notice that whatever is set in one page is reflected in the other.

2- The permissions page is a better way to display all groups and their associated categories in one place.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://xoops.gitbook.io/smartfaq-tutorial/operating-instructions/permissions.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
